Think Spring! Fete’s helpful timeline for when to design and mail your wedding invitations

We know everyone has the Holidays on their brain right now, and are busy shopping, wrapping, and partying, but as the new year approaches, we wanted to share some helpful hints to keep in mind when designing and sending out your wedding invitations.

For those of you who are getting married in the late spring (particularly May or June), NOW is the time to start on your wedding invitations if you haven’t already. To some of you, your wedding still may be seem like a long way off, but we mean it, the time is now!

We recommend mailing your wedding invitations out 10-12 weeks before the event, closer to that 12 week timeframe if your wedding is a destination for most guests. We typically tell our clients that the average time it may take for your invitation to arrive to your guests after you mail them out is about 2 weeks (thanks USPS!). Right there, that means you want to have your invitations in hand for mailing at least 3 months before your wedding date.

In our world of custom invitation design, the design process itself can take 4-8 weeks, maybe longer for our completely bespoke suites. We want the wedding invitation design process to be one of the most fun aspects of your wedding planning process, and not feel stressful in the slightest…

So, there you have it- the ideal time to start your invitation design is 5-7 months before your wedding date…so May, June, and even July couples, we are looking at you!
